Upholstergeist is an official selection at the 2024 Austin Film Festival. It is a live action short film written and directed by Michael Patrick Clarkson. It’s about a furniture repairer on a furniture restoration television show who is tasked with fixing a chair for two siblings. Seems simple enough, but there’s something off about the siblings and the chair itself. This short film is very creative and engaging. I was very intrigued by the narrative, and ended up watching it twice for this very reason. The lighting, color choices and acting are all really, really good. It’s a very well made and spooky short.
Upholstergeist screened on October 26 and will screen again on October 31, 2024 at Galaxy at 7:30 PM during the Shorts Program 8: Return of the Living Short where you can watch Upholstergeist and, Large Pines, Blame the Rabbit, CARNIVORA, Drawn into Darkness, Pop Monsters, Primogeniture, Siesta, and Unclean. Upholtergeist will have audiences refusing delivery of inherited furnishings! We hope you catch a screening to understand why!
