Sileo was one of the Official Selections from the Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation & Technology’s 2024 festival that accepted the Filmmaker Mixer Podcast offer to review their work. This 3D animated short film is about a robot who has been working for years in a factory. The nature of the robot’s work requires that it be maintained so that it may continue working optimally. Sileo is gorgeous to look at. It’s set in a futuristic world with an abundance of neon lights, and all of the 3D models have a very crisp and clean-cut look to them. I particularly loved the design of the main character who kind of reminded me of WALL-E. The story of this film took a few turns that I was not expecting. I was very intrigued by the world of Sileo, and what I learned about it in this film did not disappoint.
