This upcoming October will mark the 60th anniversary of the world-renowned Lucca Comics and Games event. Filmmaker Mixer Podcast had the honor of attending the press conference announcing the many esteemed guest for this major milestone.
Such a celebration could not be more relevant given how artists of the past act as powerful inspirations for the upcoming generations of traditional and digital artists.

With its long history, Lucca Comics and Games has chosen to focus the festival on this idea of LEGACY. It’s a chance to not just celebrate the past but to look forward to the future of creativity around the world.

Lucca Comics and Games festival’s legacy is now more important than ever to remind artists of all ages/levels to continue honing their craft and spread creativity!
As a gamer, I was excited to see the line up for guests from the video game industry. My personal highlight was seeing Yoshinori Kitase featured as a guest of honour. As somebody who loves the original Final Fantasy 7 and has been excitedly watching the releases of the remake series, I could not think of a better guest to represent the legacy and evolution of art. Final Fantasy 7 continues to change lives regardless of if you played the original or are a fan of the remakes.
Hideki Kamiya was another wonderful announcement to witness. I have played a handful of his games and have paid very close attention to his game design methods. I am beyond excited to witness what he will showcase at the festival this year!
