Droids vs Mandos is one of the was one of the Official Selections from the Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation & Technology’s 2024 festival that accepted the Filmmaker Mixer Podcast offer to review their work. It is a stop motion animated short film about three bounty hunters and the wacky obstacles they face on their way to collect a bounty. The writing was really witty and charming, with a degree of playful chaos to it that brought to mind the style of humor in the animated LEGO films I would watch on Disney XD as a kid, which made me nostalgic because those LEGO films rocked. The animation was incredibly smooth and well done and I really enjoyed how the characters all appeared to be action figures. I love how much personality this short film has, and how it managed to bring its three central protagonists to life in such a short period of time.
