Chispa was one of the Official Selections from the Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation and Technology’s 2024 festival that accepted the Filmmaker Mixer Podcast’s offer to review their work. This live action short film follows an electrician working at a mall, and an incident with a jolt of electricity that quite literally changes her. This short film is equal parts funny and suspenseful, with a really great soundtrack and special effects. The film features some scenes of the electrician dancing in the hallway, which were really incredible to watch. They were well shot and well choreographed. I liked the decision to make it black and white. It brings to mind the Twilight Zone for one reason or another, and I love all of the twists and turns the story took and how it kind of messed with your head a little bit towards the end. It’s a very fun short and I greatly enjoyed watching it.
