T-Minus was one of the Official Selections from the Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation and Technology’s 2024 festival that accepted the Filmmaker Mixer Podcast’s offer to review their work. The film focuses on the story of an astronaut and his wife. The wife narrates the film with a story about him climbing a tree in his childhood with a girl he knew, while he prepares to enter the cosmos. The background music is a beautiful rendition of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, which fits the film incredibly well and provides it with an eerie atmosphere. I really loved how artsy some of the shots could get; one in particular called to mind Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. The story takes a really unexpected direction that caught me greatly off guard. Watching T-Minus was a wonderful experience.
