Tim Travers & The Time Travelers Paradox was one of the Official Selections from the Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation & Technology’s 2024 festival that accepted the Filmmaker Mixer Podcast offer to review their work.  I knew that I was in for something good when I saw that this live action feature length film was about a time traveler named “Tim Travers.” This movie is awesome. Seriously awesome. Tim Travers is a mad scientist who conducts an experiment related to time travel. His attempts at a particular experiment result in hilarious consequences that lead the audience to ask a lot of questions.

I left this film feeling really impressed. Samuel Dunning delivers a great performance as Tim Travers; the characters are memorable; the script is tight and endearing; the plot is wild and unpredictable; and it has a great sense of humor. I know a lot of people in my generation tend to complain about comedies that are edgy and loaded with cuss words and sex jokes, due to how oversaturated that type of humor is, but Tim Travers really pulls it off in my opinion. It’s actually quite smart. Not every joke is about sex or swearing, and even the ones that are still have a proper structure to them, not to mention cleverness.

I also want to give a shout out to the special effects team on this film. They all did a great job creating really convincing effects. The gore was particularly standout. I flinched at it a couple times. The directing is great, too. Really, every aspect of this film comes together really nice.

I really can’t say enough about the story of Tim Travers. It is utterly psychotic with just how creative and insane it gets. Like, really, who would have thought of some of the things that happen in this film other than a total maniac (Stimson Snead)? I love it!
