Mito was one of the Official Selections from the Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation & Technology’s 2024 festival that accepted the Filmmaker Mixer Podcast offer to review their work. It is an animated short film about a spaceman and his pet, which looks like a cross between a turtle and a dog, who travel across different planets in outer space. The story is told without any dialogue, and the visual style is exceptionally unique. It combines 3D, CGI, 2D rigs and hand drawn frame by frame animation. Impressively, every element in the film feels cohesive. The story was unpredictable, and did a good job at making you care about these two characters and where they end up.
