Buckets City was one of the Official Selections from the Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation & Technology’s 2024 festival that accepted the Filmmaker Mixer Podcast offer to review their work. It is an animated short film about two dudebro underdogs: a duck and a squirrel, who play basketball. The story is charming and entertaining the whole way through. This short film’s charm may make you feel better if you’re feeling down. I found the characters distinct and memorable. I really loved the visual style, which involves these loose, shaky lines and lively, but somewhat desaturated colors. It’s a real treat to look at.
